The National Home Builders Registration Council has nurtured a strong working relationship with Tjeka Training Matters since 2007.

Tjeka has provided technical skills training in bricklaying, plastering, plumbing, painting and roofing. This is in addition to managerial-related training in the fields of construction and project management, as well as finance for non-finance managers.

More recently, Tjeka was appointed to train emerging homebuilders in the North West province.

I recommend the services of this private technical and vocational education and training college to all prospective clients, considering that it is accredited by the Construction Education Training Authority at a National Qualification Framework level 3.

Tjeka Training Matters trained 122 participants in the CWP North West Programme in brickmaking, painting, paving and road maintenance from January to March 2020.

The learners were trained at different municipal sites in the North West province.

Brickmaking, a 15-day programme, and painting, eight days of training, was conducted at two municipalities. Painting, an eight-day-long programme, and paving, which entailed 10-days of skills training, was conducted at one municipality.

I found Tjeka to be very professional, quick to assist and accommodating regarding any queries during and after the training. Notably, the team is committed to the practical components of training programmes, which were very well received by the learners, and its administration quick and effective.

I am, therefore, happy to recommend the services of Tjeka.

Providing professional services of an exceptional quality, Tjeka Training Matters has been WBHO Construction’s preferred training provider for many years.

Numerous WBHO employees, including shutter-hands, concrete-hands, junior foremen and foremen, attend Tjeka training initiatives on a regular basis.

Their training programmes have produced a robust pipeline of high-quality skills that have been deployed on our construction sites.

We also regularly utilise Tjeka’s expertise for skills and supervisory training of our site staff. This training, specifically with regards to National Qualifications Framework (NQF) NQF2 and 4-recognised learnerships, are planned, organised and managed efficiently by Tjeka.

We, therefore, recommend Tjeka to other construction companies that need to train their staff to enhance skills development.

We have been using Tjeka Training Matters to develop the skills of our employees since 2016.

I recommend their high-quality training, especially for road construction, Tswelopele Roads and Earthworks’ core business.

Notably, this training has also benefited the learners. The 48 candidates trained by Tjeka over the years have received credits for completing their learnerships and some have also enrolled at universities to further their education.

Kobus Brümmer and I have worked together for more than 30 years.

Our working relationship started at what was then the Civil Engineering Industry Training Scheme of the South African Forum of Civil Engineering Contractors (SAFCEC). Kobus was responsible for the development, establishment and implementation of training programmes geared at the specific needs of construction industry supervisors.

In 1992, he supported me in establishing the Construction Training Trust Fund to develop construction skills for the Botswana government.

Since joining Tjeka Training Matters in 2000, Kobus and I have worked together extensively on various construction training projects and his contributions have been un-paralleled.

Tjeka has consistently delivered outstanding construction skills training on various projects for, among others, Stefanutti Stocks KZN and Aveng Grinaker/LTA Civils.

I highly recommend the services of Tjeka, known for providing professional training and development, in addition to always delivering according to or exceeding expectation. Notably, the team is versatile and able to serve the unique needs of the client, while maintaining qualification requirements.

While I was employed at Basil Read as Technical Training Manager, I worked closely with Tjeka Training Matters which was appointed to conduct National Qualification Framework (NQF) learnerships for the Building, Civils, Roads and Mining divisions.

We trained unemployed people and existing staff. The three-year training assessment included NQF3 – National Certificate: Construction Health and Safety; NQF3 – National Certificate: Construction Carpentry; NQF4 – National Certificate: Supervision of Construction Processes; and NQF5 – National Certificate: Management of Building Construction Processes.

Tjeka conducted a lab test on all candidates to determine the level of their numeracy and literacy skills, while also helping us source unemployed people to participate in the training programmes.

In addition, the company undertook regular on-site assessments of site workbooks and participated in monthly meetings to ensure reporting and progress statements were available on a weekly and monthly basis.

Notably, Tjeka always had learners’ interest at heart, ensuring that their understanding, level of commitment and morale remained at a high standard throughout the duration of the learnership.

It was a pleasure working with the professional and helpful Tjeka team.
